1.1 Release notes

Birth by Fire version 1.1 is now out!!!

Several things have been updated with this patch including character designs, UI, and enemy AI changes. This game was originally intended to be a demo or a proof of concept for a larger game that I wanted to work on. However, I now consider this game to be a full game in and of itself. Don't worry though, the work on the larger game is indeed underway which is the reason for the character design updates and name changes. With that, let's talk about the changes.

1) Character designs and names: This is mostly because I didn't want the characters to have the default images and names. Most of them look similar to how they were and their personalities haven't changed a wit. Along with the image updates all the main characters now have a variety of facial expressions which helps make conversations more interesting and dynamic.

2) Enemy AI and balance: Some of you may have noticed that the Bandit Hunter was a little broken. In addition, the Thief also was missing a low-health option to stay protected in the back row. Both AIs have been fixed and the original intent for these enemies is better realized now. With the changes, the Bandit Hunter proved to be very deadly. This has been resolved with an agility nerf so that it is easier to get a heal in on your weakened target before he finishes them off.

3) UI updates: Some might recall that the narrator said that an estimated damage indicator would be a great finishing touch to the game. Well, that is now realized! After selecting a single-target skill hovering over an enemy (or ally) will show how much damage (or healing) you can expect to do with your skill if you hit. This allows for combat to be more strategic allowing you to more accurately know when an enemy is going to die. In addition to that, health and action bars for enemies have been shrunk so it is more clear which bar belongs to which enemy and enemy formations have been adjusted so there is no overlap in these bars.

There were several other minor changes as well: the narrator's dialogue is a little different and the super-secret dev item was removed. Other than that, it's the same game. I hope you enjoy! :)
